Move over Susan B Anthony - there are four women in Miami who wanna talk too!

After much thought and deliberation, I felt that it was no longer sufficient to my deepest moral and ethical concerns to merely watch the Golden Girls silently on days that I am off "sick" from work. Hence this blog. Surprisingly, not many people are eager to hear my views on a show that premiered in 1985 and ran for a short 7 seasons. I think even Saved by the Bell made those kids stay in high school for like, I don't know... 12 years? in order to prolong their run time.Additionally no one gave a crap about the College years and why in the hell would their principal follow them? One answer: Pedophile. Another answer: Pathetic. Like the viewers wouldn't be suspicious - please! But I digress.

Although societal issues presented in the show were brought forth in a somewhat crass and light manner that in no way reflected the issue's true impact, there were efforts made. And that I appreciate. For research purposes, I plan on missing a lot more work and ignoring my family much more than I do currently.

The intention of this blog, should anyone read it, is to review the high/low points of each episode as well as give a summary. Then we delve into the real issues. The issues of Stanley and Gay rights and test tube babies. Elder care, borderline prostitution and cohabitation that is considered in the great state of Pennsylvania constitutes a brothel (maybe Blanche was on to something...) and this I know from experience as I was the fourth whore living in a rental and was not permitted to sign the lease! dang.

Anyway, I leave you today with a link to the Modesto Bee. An article from 1985 discuss rumors about the relationship amongst the golden girls off the set. Additionally, I would like to point out that cantaloupe was 39 cents!!! Dang!

  1. Cantaloupe was only 39 cents?? Next you'll be telling me that gas was less than $3/gallon . . .

Looking forward to reading your snarky and sarcastic insights into the Golden Girls :)

  2. People were watering their damn lawns with gas back then.
And, if this is a paper from Modesto CALIFORNIA, then I understand why they would have to have such great produce prices as the town is a hell on earth. Modesto can even make 11 year old girls from the SUBURBS search for a gun to blow their brains out.
People are always talking about Compton and Rodney King riots and blah blah blah, but never Modesto's cheap produce and the city's attempts to quell hell's flames back into the earth's deep pit in an feeble attempt to keep the city from catching on fire. Oh, you know I was only passing through town, but I would imagine this is true.
